Titus, chapter three, verses eight through fifteen.
8This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. 9But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. 10Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, 11knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned. 12When I send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there. 13Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey with haste, that they may lack nothing. 14And let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, that they may not be unfruitful. 15All who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen. Luke, chapter eight, verses five through fifteen.
5A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it. 6Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. 7And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. 8But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold. When He had said these things He cried, He who has ears to hear, let him hear! 9Then His disciples asked Him, saying, What does this parable mean? 10And He said, To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that Seeing they may not see, And hearing they may not understand.' 11Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. 14Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 15But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

What is the Church teaching your soul today?
Today the Church calls you to receive the faith, not to invent it. Look at the Fathers of Nicaea and at St. Theophanes with verses cut into his face. They suffered for a simple claim: God became a man you could see. Mary saw Him in the garden and heard Him say her name. The widow saw His hand on her son's coffin and got her son back. Abraham received bread and wine from a priest of God Most High, and you will receive the true Bread and Wine this morning. None of this has changed. "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." So the faith does not need you to improve it. It needs you to keep it, the way Abraham's servants kept his house and Moses' judges kept the law, without fear of any man. And it needs you to keep it humbly. Paul saw Paradise and boasted only in his weakness. When you kiss the icon today, let that small act say everything the Fathers died to say: the God of gods has visited His people, and His grace is enough for you.
Ascetic posture for today: Venerate each icon slowly and on purpose today, and when you feel the urge to show what you know, stay quiet and let Christ be the one who is seen.
